April Beau Geste

The Beau Geste tournament was yesterday, and it started out looking like it would be a big tourney. Sir Teric was there and in armor, as were myself, Gui, Oscad, Vasili, Wulfgar and Avran. But I had a migraine and almost puked in my helmet, so I got out of armor. Gui and Teric were on a schedule and got out at the same time. That left Wulfgar, Avran, Vasili, and Oscad. It was running late. We fought a simple single elimination, each round two out of three. I had them draw straws for the first pairings. Wulfgar beat Avran in the first set, then Oscad beat Vasili 2 and 1. In the finals, Oscad beat Wulfgar, becoming the first two time winner of the Beau Geste.

Beau Geste Results

At this month Beau Geste tournament yesterday there were only four fighters: Rav, Dugal MacDonal, Visilis and Timur of Ostgardr. Since the number was small, and coming off the wounds retained format at Birka, Oscad decided that each pair of fighters would fight three fights: each would start one fight from their knees, and then in the third fight they would start standing. It was a good training exercise. The winner, with one loss, was Dugal MacDonal.

January Beau Gestge Tournament

Congratulations to Oscad de Segovia, winner of this month's Beau Geste Tournament!

There were eight fighters in the round-robin list: Lord Oscad, Vasili, Ervald the Optimistic, Roderic, Wolfy, William, Everett and Timoor of Ostgardr.

Oscad was victorious with six wins and one losss. Second place was Roderic, with five wins and two losses. Third place was a tie between Vasili and Timoor, with four wins and three losses.

Kudos to Lord Ervald, who fought at different times with Sword and Shield, glaive, and sword and dagger. Timoor fought the entire list with single broadsword and gave Lord Oscad his only loss. It was a really good tourney.

Inagural Beau Geste

This blog is the home of The Beau Geste, a monthly heavy combat tournament, and the Lapin Agile, a monthly rapier tournament, held at the Brooklyn Army Terminal fighter practice in the Canton of Brokenbridge, Crown Province of Ostgardr, Kingdom of the East.

A "Beau Geste" is a great or gracious but eventually meaningless gesture. The first Beau Geste was held today. There were seven fighters:

Lord Oscad de Segovia
Timur
Gil
Sir Valgard
Lord Vasillis
Lord Luis de Castillo
His Excellency Alexandre, Viceroy of Ostgardr

The winner, who will be called "le Beau Geste" till the next tourney, is Sir Valgard (that would be me).

A "Lapin Agile" is a nimble rabbit, named for the rabbit on the Brokenbridge arms.

Lord Llewellyn will mail me the names of the competitors. The winner was Jonathan Connelly, who shall be known as "le Lapain Agile" for the next month.

Congratulations.
