The winter doldrums

have set in deep, and there was no Beu Geste last weekend. Myself and Vasilis were both there, but decided it wasn't enough to hold a tournament. He was busy fencing, so we didn't get into heavy armor at all. Next month, 3rd Sunday!

Janyary 2010 Beau Geste

The winner of this month's Beau Geste tournament was the new Kings Champion, Oscad de Segovia. There were five fighters in the tournament: Oscad, Vasilis, and three visitors from Settemore Swamp: Johnathan, Edward, and Brother Simon. Vasilis (who was fighting right handed, hitting harder than a Mack truck, and doesn't know how good he's gotten) was in the finals. In keeping with His Majesty's proclaimation about crown tourney, the finals were three of five with mixed weapons. It was one of the most entertaining finals I've seen in a long time. They didn't even make it to the sword and shield round. They fought pole arm, two sword, single-sword at the barrier, and bastard swords without thrusting tips. It was a great tourney. Some of the fights, (unfortunately not the finals) are below.

The September Beau Geste was cancelled after being moved to Queen's Farm. The October Beau Geste held at BAT and included myself, Gina, Oscad, Daniel, Vasilli, Rav, and Dugal. It was won by yours truly.

August Tourney

We had a Beau Geste tourney today. It being the weekend after Pennsic, when many fighters were recuperating (including yours truly) we only ahd four fighters: Timur, Gui, Daniel and Vasilli. We had a weighted counted blows round robin. Gui and Vasili had to land five good blows on their opponents, Daniel and Timur had to land three good blows. The victor of the tourney was Gui, with three wins and no losses. Vive le Beau Geste!

The next Beau Geste will be on Sunday September 20.

July Beau Geste

Greetings!

This past Sunday, July 12, we had our Beau Geste Tournament at Brooklyn Army Terminal practice. There were six participants in the tournament: Dainel of Ostgardr, Kasimir, Wolfy, Everett, Gina, and Vasilli. Gui ran the tournament and insisted that challenges be part of every round, and the fighters and spectators had a lot of fun with it. The best challenge went to Gina.

The victor of the tournament was Lord Kasimir, who defeated Vasilli in the final round, two out of three. Vive le Beau Geste!

In an effort to attract more fighters, we are setting the dates of the Beau Geste in advance. For the rest of the year the Beau Geste tournament will be held on the third Sunday of the month. That would be 8/16, 9/20, 10/18, 11/15, and 12/20. So the next one will be held the Sunday after Pennsic. See you there!

May Beau Geste

The Baue Geste tournament was today. Daniel, Dougal, Myself, Gui, Kasamir, and Everett competed in a two out of three double elim. Gui and I faced in the finals, which he won two out of three with two double kills. It was some great fighting. Vive le Beau Geste!

April Beau Geste

The Beau Geste tournament was yesterday, and it started out looking like it would be a big tourney. Sir Teric was there and in armor, as were myself, Gui, Oscad, Vasili, Wulfgar and Avran. But I had a migraine and almost puked in my helmet, so I got out of armor. Gui and Teric were on a schedule and got out at the same time. That left Wulfgar, Avran, Vasili, and Oscad. It was running late. We fought a simple single elimination, each round two out of three. I had them draw straws for the first pairings. Wulfgar beat Avran in the first set, then Oscad beat Vasili 2 and 1. In the finals, Oscad beat Wulfgar, becoming the first two time winner of the Beau Geste.
